Some requirements do not fit a catalogue page. A new machine, an unusual route or a specification written around a competitor’s part number all need engineering rather than order taking. That is what this programme is for.

We work from your drawing, a physical sample or a described problem, and we stay in the loop from first sketch to the first container.

What can be customised

Variable Range Typical driver
Length and thickness To drawing Machine platform and mounting geometry
Carbide grade Hardness-led to toughness-led Surface abrasiveness and impact risk
Segment or insert spacing Dense to open Cleanliness of scrape versus impact absorption
Edge angle To drawing Surface type and down-pressure available
Carrier and rubber compound Matched to climate Lowest working temperature in your season
Packing and labelling Your label, your carton spec Warehouse and receiving requirements

The development route

  1. Brief. We collect the machine details, the surface, the wear life you expect and the constraints your business puts on the project.
  2. Proposal. You receive a proposed specification with a drawing, a grade recommendation and a costed tooling position where tooling is needed.
  3. Sample or trial batch. A sample edge or short production run goes into service so the decision is made on your roads.
  4. Approval and production. The approved drawing is frozen, produced under our normal inspection gates and archived for repeat orders.
  5. Programme supply. Forecasts, schedules and packaging are agreed so season peaks do not become emergencies.

Private label and OEM

We produce under your brand, to your carton specification and your labelling rules. Because the specification is archived and traceable, your customers receive a consistent product across orders — which is the point of a private-label programme.

Tooling costs

Where a bespoke profile needs new tooling, we quote it openly as a separate line rather than hiding it in the unit price. You will know what the tooling costs and what the blade costs from the first quotation.

Intellectual property and drawings

Drawings you supply remain yours. Drawings and tooling we develop remain ours unless a separate agreement says otherwise. Where a project is jointly developed we will put the position in writing before work starts, so there is no ambiguity later.

Is there a minimum order for a custom blade?

There is a sensible minimum that depends on tooling and material. Simple modifications to an existing profile can start small; an entirely new press form needs a volume that justifies the tooling, and we will say so.

How long does development take?

A modification to an existing profile can move quickly. A new profile with tooling typically needs a tooling build, a first article and your approval before production. You will get a schedule with the quotation.

Can you sign an NDA before we share drawings?

Yes. Send the request with your enquiry and we will put the agreement in place before drawings change hands.

Do you supply samples for testing?

Yes, and we recommend it. A trial edge on your own route answers more questions than any specification sheet.

Tell us the machine, the material you are clearing and the wear life you need. Our engineers reply with the edge profile, carbide grade and packing that fit the job — usually within one working day.
